iBackup saves all your DataTap and iAccounts records on your computer and lets you browse the saved data transparently. It is real a life-saver for restoring lost data and a simply useful utility when you are at your computer and need that bit of information you have stored in your phone.
iBackup is a complimentary utility to iAccounts and DataTap that runs on current Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows operating systems. You can download it and use it free of charge, with no limits on the number of concurrent copies. And we promise it will stay 100% free. Forever!
Once installed on your computer you will experience the amazing synchronization features of DataTap and iAccounts: fast and reliable backup/restore over your wi-fi network. Right, no cables needed! iBackup is small, light, easy to use and gets the job done quickly.
The best things always come in small packages.
iBackup stores your data with Blowfish encryption using a 448-bits random key! 448 bits! Data is scrambled with a uniquely generated random key to make sure that every single database is uniquely protected. Blowfish was recently chosen as reference encryption algorithm on Linux: it is so secure you'll need centuries of super-computer cycles to break it!
Strong encryption is just one piece of our apps security architecture and iBackup brings security further, right at the user interaction level: iBackup adopts the same PIN protection scheme of iAccounts, our super-secure and celebrated digital wallet. The app asks you to enter your own PIN to view saved data and to authorize any backup and restore requests coming from your iPhone. The PIN is always hidden and never exposed.
Finally, we just like to design no-nonsense software. Since iBackup is designed to fully integrate with iAccounts and DataTap, your mobile app PIN is synchronized at every backup, so you don't have to remember different PINs between your mobile and backup apps. Simply clever.
iAccounts and DataTap on your phone have dedicated settings (find them in your iPhone Settings app) where the address of the computer running iBackup can be configured. You can find the IP Address in iBackup's status bar. So, if you haven't done it yet, open your iPhones Settings and tap on the iAccounts or DataTap settings item to set the IP address of the computer you want to sync with, as illustrated below.

Now that you have configured your mobile apps, follow these steps to perform a backup:
For improved security backup and restore require a valid PIN to be set.
iBackup for Microsoft® Windows® operating system
iBackup for Apple® Mac OS® operating system
A firewall is a software application installed as part of your operating system that, when active, blocks incoming connections. The firewall is designed to protect your computer from intrusions. iBackup and iAccounts exchange data over the wi-fi network and the firewall may be configured to block connections between these two applications, thereby preventing completion of the backup/restore process. By following the simple hints below you should get all firewall issues sorted quickly.
The Firewall on Microsoft Windows
If you decide to have your firewall on, make sure to check the "allow incoming connections" checkmark on all ports, otherwise iAccounts will not be able to perform backups.
The Firewall on Mac OS X
The Firewall is already set to allow all incoming connections by defaul. If you happened to change your firewall settings, just make sure to select "Allow all incoming connections", and it will work out well.
Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8 do not come with Java preinstalled. When you launch a Java app for the first time on your Mac, you'll be prompted to download Java, please do so by clicking on the Install button.
Java is a safe, tried and tested runtime environment for software applications, you can read more about Java and its widespread adoption on www.java.com
WePrint is an application that lets you print from your iPhone. iAccounts users have reported that this application may interfere with backup and restore operations. Please make sure you disconnect WePrint before attempting backup and restore.
Thanks to our customer Bill Z that highlighted this issue to our support team.
For DataTap users
The new version of iBackup can import CSV files and create records via the brand new Data/New Record... menu item. See for yourself how simple it is and do not forget to check the on-line help menu in iBackup for clear instructions on how to perform these operations.
For iAccounts users
iBackup provides fast input capabilities via the File/Import... menu. The format is very simple, just export a couple times your data and you'll be able to build an import file based on the export format, since the export format is identical to the import one. You can import a preformatted CSV text file with all your data in less than one second, check out the instructions in the on-line help menu of iBackup.
We have identified a number of applications that may lead to a timeout of running together with iBackup, Please quit any of the applications listed below if you see a timeout message following a backup or a restore operation and retry.
Finally, some users have reported Apple iTunes getting on the way when the iPhone USB cable is connected. In doubt, quit it and remove the USB cable. If anything fails, please get in touch via our support page and we'll sort it out together with you.

Softpedia, an independent and reliable source, has certified that iBackup is 100% free from malware, viruses and trojans. This is no news to us, we have developed the application to protect your data from the very first lines of code, but we thought it's a good idea to let you know that an independent review process has certified it as being safe and secure.
